Professor Rei Berroa to participate in homage to Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti at the Art of the Americas Museum

Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti is considered one of the most important Latin American writers since the start of his career in 1945, as his influential work has been viewed as an integral part of the Generation '45, a group of Uruguayan writers whose publications defined regional literature. Mr. Benedetti has written over 80 works of poetry, novels, short stories, and plays, which have been translated into 20 languages. The anthology Witness:The Selected Poems of Mario Benedetti includes poems from throughout his career, and contains works from his 30 volumes of poetry.

On Wednesday October 10th from 5:00 to 7:00pm, there will be a lecture and presentation of his anthology at the Art of Americas Museum. Professor Rei Berroa, as well as Uruguayan Ambassador Milton Romani Gerner, Spanish Ambassador Jorge Hevia, translator Louise B. Popkin, and social psychologist Sonia Fernández Planté will all be speaking at the event. The event is free and open to the public.
