Music in Latin America, accordion and guitar music from Aisén in southern Chile

Dr. Gregory Robinson has been the recipient of the International Dissertation Research Fellowship from the Social Science Research Council as well as the U.S. Student Fulbright Award. His research focuses on music for accordion and guitar in the region of Aisén, in southern Chile.

His interests include music in Latin America, traditionalist movements and conceptions of tradition, transnational connections, nation-building and border-crossing, postcolonial studies, jazz and North American popular music, and twentieth/twenty-first-century Western art music.

He holds a PhD in anthropology of music from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in music from Colby College.
