Guatemala and its Search for the Disappeared: Event October 2nd!

Fredy Peccerelli will discuss the multidisciplinary strategies that FAFG uses to carry out forensic investigations of the disappeared, applying techniques drawn from social anthropology, criminology, forensic anthropology, forensic archaeology and forensic genetics. He will also discuss how that information is used in seeking justice for these human rights abuses.

Mr. Peccerelli is a founding member of the Guatemalan Forensic Anthropology Foundation and has been directly involved in the investigation of hundreds of mass gravesites. He has also lead forensic archeological investigations of war crimes in Bosnia & Herzegovina for the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. In May 2012 he was awarded with the Puffin/Alba award for Human Rights Activism together with Kate Doyle from the National Security Archive, and in December 2012 he received the Canada's Governor General David Johnston’s Special Honors Medal.
